Choosing the Best Dairy Free Lactose-Free Half and Half Alternatives

In the world of coffee, and tea, half and half holds a special place for adding that perfect creamy texture and taste. But what happens when dairy isn't an option, either due to lactose intolerance, dietary preferences, or an allergy?

Today I'm going to tell you about my favorite lactose-free and dairy free half and half alternative.

Yes, you CAN  enjoy the creamy coffee again - without the dairy.

Whether you're a coffee aficionado, a vegan, or simply looking to reduce dairy consumption, I hope you'll try my favorite alternative to traditional half and half (that doesn't compromise on taste or texture).

(To make the coffee below, I frothed the Nutpods half and half in my Pampered Chef Electric Frother!)

What Is Half and Half and Why Look for Alternatives?

Half and half, traditionally a blend of equal parts whole milk and heavy cream, is beloved for its creamy texture and rich taste.

However, for those avoiding dairy due to lactose intolerance, allergies, or digestive issues, finding a suitable alternative is important.

Lactose-free and dairy-free versions offer creamy luxury without the digestive discomfort or allergy concerns associated with dairy.

Nutpods dairy free half and half - the best alternative

I've recently had to go dairy-free for health reasons (maybe not permanently, but temporarily to see if it helps).

The number one thing I was concerned about was half and half in my coffee! I'm not much on extra flavors or sweet coffee creamer in my coffee, but I do love half and half!

So when Nutpods reached out and offered to send me their dairy-free half and half, I was excited to try it!

Watch my video to see why I love Nutpods and exactly how I use it in my kitchen!

What does Nutpods half and half taste like?

I still remember what I thought when I took my first sip . . . "This tastes just like half and half!"

I was SO amazed . . . and so happy!

It's extra creamy, low-fat, and low-calorie, and the consistency is the same as regular half and half - it's the perfect non-dairy substitute for my dairy-free diet!

And maybe best of all - it doesn't taste like almond or coconut! I'm not sure how they managed it, but it really does taste like regular half and half!

How many calories are in Nutpods half and half?

There are 15 calories for two Tablespoons and 1.5 grams of fat. If you follow the Trim Healthy Mama eating style, this still fits into Fuel Pull mode.

Can I use Nutpods half and half for cooking?

Yes! I've used it to make mashed potatoes, and it works great (even my pickier kids liked them)!

You can also use it to replace milk in recipes or to make smoothies or other drinks.

What flavors does the brand Nutpods have?

If you like flavors in your coffee, Nutpods has a multitude of other flavors to choose from. Some are unsweetened and some are sweetened with erythritol and stevia.

From Classic Chocolate, to Coffee Cake, to Toasted Marshmallow, they have something for everyone!

I also love their Barista Oat Milks for lattes. I use the Cinnamon Dolce Barista Oatmilk to make Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso at home!

Where can I buy Nutpods half-and-half?

I've not seen it in any of my local stores yet, but you can find it on the Nutpods website, as well as on Amazon!

If you order from the Nutpods website, you can use the code my_montana_kitchen_thm to get 15% off your first order!

Could I just use coconut milk or coconut cream in my coffee?

Yes, you can use coconut milk or coconut cream in your coffee as a dairy-free alternative. Coconut milk is typically thinner and lighter in texture, while coconut cream is thicker and richer.

Experiment with both to see which you prefer in terms of taste and consistency. Just be aware that it will taste like coconut!

Be sure to watch my video on YouTube to see exactly how I use this dairy-free alternative in my own kitchen!
