Rich and flavorful, these hot drinks are full of good-for-you ingredients that will keep you healthy and strong during the cold winter months.

I have always liked Good Girl Moonshine (also called GGMS & "Sunshine" at our house). I usually make it in a quart jar with lots of ice. But I live in Montana, and last week we hit -13. I was not in the mood for a cold, icy drink! I needed something warm and cozy!
So, I thought, why not just drink your GGMS hot for a change? I discovered that I really like it that way - especially with the new Celestial Seasonings Seasonal flavored teas. It is warm and comforting - and somehow, it almost tastes like Hot Apple Cider!
I wince to even call it a "recipe," because really you just make your GGMS as you normally would, but you drink it hot instead of cold. But, in case none of this has occurred to my fellow THM-Mamas, here you go! I know some of you drink it hot already, because you told me so on my Facebook Page!
A note on the ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar (with the Mother)
- Can help regulate blood sugar
- Can help you feel full, so you eat less
- Can help lower cholesterol
- Can aid in removing toxins from your body
- Can act as a digestive aid
- Can help with headaches
- For more ideas on how to use Apple Cider Vinegar, check out my source here.
Fresh Ginger Juice:
- Can help with nausea
- Ginger can help guard against inflammation
- May help lower blood sugar
- Can help treat indigestion
- May reduce menstrual pain
- Can help fight infections

You could make the drink with just the ACV and ginger, but I like to use flavored herbal teas to make it taste better! My favorites for the hot GGMS are Sugar Plum Spice, and Cranberry Vanilla Wonderland. Notes

I thought ACV can be harmful to tooth enamel... and that's why people drink GGMS with a straw. I fear sipping it warm would do the same. But this sounds delicious.
My dental hygienist told me it would not be any worse than drinking lemon water, but she said to wait at least 30 minutes before brushing your teeth. However, another reader told me they sip hot drinks through stirring straws . . . Perhaps that would be a good option.
Where do you get ginger juice?
You can order it on Amazon or Vitacost. I have not seen it in any store.
How long is your ginger juice good for. I usually use the powdered kind, but recently but fresh ginger root. Just curious.
It lasts for at least two weeks in the refrigerator.
This is the time of year for a nice hot cuppa. Got to try adding the vinegar - I'm intrigued!
I'm not much of a tea drinker but I must confess this does look good!
Love these recipes! They look awesome! Check out some of my favorite teas at http://www.detoxteaguide.com
I know this recipe is from a while back but what is “a length” of ginger root?
I haven't tried this hot yet but it sounds perfect for this freezing cold weather! A warm gingery drink sounds really good right now!
I'm big tea drinker especially when it's cold outside. These flavored detox teas sound awesome 🙂
I am thoroughly enjoying this, thank you.
can I use pwd ginger if I don't have fresh or juice?
Absolutely!
It's so freezing here today (Western NY) and I have an iced GGMS next to me which I'm not enjoying! I was so happy this showed up when I searched hot GGMS 🙂 Thanks! And Merry Christmas!
I hope you enjoy it!! I used to live in Western New York!
This sounds perfect for a night warming drink. Thank you!
Oh my...this is great with roiboos tea! Just right in 15 degree weather.
Would it be ok to add just a small splash of Cashew Milk? I’m not a fan of hot drinks, but drank tea with a little milk, when I was a kid.
Sometimes cream curdles in fruit flavored teas, I'm not sure if cashew milk would do the same . . .
Thanks Sarah, I have been "stalling" at this time of the year with drinking cold GGMS. I live in British Columbia and it was - 15 last week too. I am going to take my Tropical Punch GGMS out of the refridgerator and heat it up. This is my favorite, thanks for the recipe.
I just found this recipe. I struggle with drinking enough fluids and I know I need to reduce my coffee. I prefer hot drinks and this was delicious! Maybe I should have bought 2 boxes of Sugar Plum Spice tea 🤔
