Fried fish nuggets - these easy fish nuggets are a meal that the whole family will love! Complete with an easy homemade tartar sauce! This recipe is low carb, gluten free, and a Trim Healthy Mama S Fuel.

The end of September is my oldest son’s birthday, and he turned ten this year. In celebration, my husband and my dad took him on a charter fishing trip on Flathead Lake.
They had a great trip, and brought back several beautiful (large) lake trout. Now, I suppose this would be a good time to tell you that I have never been fond of fish.
I know fish is healthy, full of nutrients, etc. But the fact remains that I do not like fish! (Sorry!) My husband wanted to bring some of these trout home to eat, and I agreed that we should.
But that left me wondering how I could cook the trout. I’ve found that cooks usually cook what THEY like to eat, so I do not have a lot of experience with fish!
We decided to do a spin off the Breaded Chicken Tenders Recipe and make fried fish nuggets. And guess what? It was GOOD! I mean, really good! And that is saying a lot since I do not even like fish! I actually enjoyed it! And so did all of my kids (big bonus there)!
I believe this recipe would work with any type of fish, but we used the Lake Trout since that is what we had on hand.
I also whipped up an easy homemade tartar sauce for dipping your fried fish nuggets. The flavors in the tartar sauce are light and bright - the perfect accompaniment to your fried fish nuggets (and perfect for dipping)!
So, what do you need for these delicious fish nuggets?
1 ½ Pounds Fresh Fish Fillets (I used Lake Trout)
1 ½ Cups Trim Healthy Mama Baking Blend* (See Note in recipe card for substitution.)
1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
3 Teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
Refined Coconut Oil (1 ½ - 2 Cups)
½ Cup Mayonnaise
2 Teaspoons Dill Relish
½ Lemon, Squeezed (About 2 Tablespoons)
2 Tablespoons Diced Onions

Low Carb Fried Fish Nuggets
- 1 ½ Pounds Fresh Fish Fillets I used Lake Trout
- 3 Eggs
- Refined Coconut Oil 1 ½ - 2 Cups
- ½ Cup Mayonnaise
- 2 Teaspoons Dill Relish
- ½ Lemon Squeezed (about 2 Tablespoons)
- 2 Tablespoons Diced Onions
- Preheat refined coconut oil over medium-low heat in a large medium skillet.
- Cut fish fillets into 2 inch pieces.
- Combine all the breading ingredients in a shallow bowl.
- Place eggs in another shallow bowl and mix well.
- Dip fish pieces into egg, then dredge in the breading mixture.
- Fry in the coconut oil for approximately 2 minutes on each side.
- Drain on paper towels.
Make the Tartar Sauce
- In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well.
Nutrition facts are calculated for ⅙ of the fried fish nuggets and approximately 1.5 Tablespoons of Tartar Sauce.
